Mona Barthel und Lucie Safarova sind mit verschiedenen Mitspielerinnen bei den French Open in Paris in die zweite Runde des Doppelwettbewerbs eingezogen.
Mona Barthel gewann mit der 30-jährigen Liga Dekmeijere aus Riga/Lettland, zum vierten Mal in Paris und 65. der Doppel-Weltrangliste, in drei Sätzen etwas überraschend gegen die Australierinnen Ashleigh Barty/Caxey Dellaqua mit 3:6, 6:4, 6:3. Die Gegnerinnen waren an 14 gesetzt. In Runde zwei geht es gegen Vania King/Monica Niculescu (USA/Rumänien).
Nach einer Regenpause am Vortag schaffte auch Lucie Safarova, hinter Klara Zakopalova im Bocholter Team die Nummer zwei, mit ihrer langjährigen Doppelpartnerin Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (Russland) den Sprung in die zweite Runde. Das favorisierte Duo, an elf gesetzt, benötigte aber auch drei Sätze beim 4:6, 6:2, 6:4 gegen Vera Dushevina/Alexandra Panova aus Russland. In Runde zwei heißen die Gegnerinnen Caroline Garcia/Mathilde Johansson (Frankreich).
Grönefeld und Cornet noch im Doppel und Mixed vertreten
• Außer im Doppelwettbewerb sind Anna-Lena Grönefeld und Alizé Cornet auch noch im Mixed vertreten. Hier sind sie noch ohne Spiel. Grönefeld, Mixed-Siegerin 2009 in Wimbledon, ist mit ihrem rumänischen Partner Horia Tecau gar an sechs eingestuft. Cornet spielt mit dem Franzosen Gilles Simon. Für sie hat am heutigen Samstag zunächst das Drittrundenspiel gegen die Nummer drei Victoria Azarenka Vorrang.
