Sonntag das große Finale: TC BW WattExtra Bocholt in Ratingen

Am fünften Spieltag der Bundesligasaison hielten sich die Titelfavoriten Bocholt und Ratingen erneut schadlos. Der TC WattExtra Bocholt hatte im Niederrheinderby den mit Respekt erwarteten Gegner ETuF Essen zu Gast.

Die Essener hatten jedoch heute einige Personal-probleme und konnten nicht mit Bestbesetzung antreten. So kam es zu einer deutlichen 5:1-Führung für den Gastgeber. Einzig die ehemalige Bocholterin Imke Küsgen konnte einen Ehrenpunkt einfahren.
Auch in den Doppeln war für ETUF nichts mehr drin und am Ende hieß es hier 8:1 für den noch amtierenden deutschen Meister, der am kommenden Freitag-Spieltag entspannt auf die Liga blicken kann, da er spielfrei hat und sich voll auf das Finale am Sonntag, 9. Juni, konzentrieren kann.
Ähnlich deutlich ging es beim Spiel TC ZWS Moers 08 und M2Béauté Ratingen zur Sache. Auch hier hieß der Endstand 8:1, doch die Spiele waren um einiges enger, als das Ergebnis vermuten lässt. Der Sieg für die Favoriten aus Ratingen geht völlig in Ordnung, doch den einen oder anderen Punkt hätten die Moerserinnen sich auf heimischer Anlage sicherlich verdient gehabt. Zwei der Doppel gingen denkbar knapp im Match-Tiebreak weg. Damit heißt es für die Moerser am nächsten Wochenende volle Kraft gegen den Abstieg.
Große Ausgeglichenheit gab es dagegen beim Spiel in Berlin. Dort ging es erst mit einer knapp zweistündigen Verspätung los, da es regnete. Die Einzel waren fast alle eng und spannend. So der Spielstand 3:3 nach den Einzeln. So mussten die Doppel die Entscheidung bringen. Wie es ein guter Krimi schreibt, war es auch hier spannend bis zum letzten Ball. Das erste Doppel ging an die Gäste, das zweite Doppel an die Gastgeber aus Berlin. Damit lag alles am dritten Doppel, das mit Beendigung des zweiten in den Match-Tiebreak ging. Hier hatte Stuttgart das glücklichere Ende für sich und holte den ersehnten ersten Saisonsieg.
Stuttgarts Teamchef Thomas Bürkle sprach von einem Befreiungsschlag für sein Team und dankte insbesondere Kirsten Flipkens, die noch am Sonntagmorgen aus Paris angereist war, um ihr Team zu unterstützen.
Somit stehen vor dem letzten Spielwochenende gleich drei Mannschaften mit einem Sieg und zwei Pluspunkten da. Der Abstiegskampf wird also noch richtig interessant.
Vorjahresaufsteiger ETuF Essen ist nach dem 1:8 in Bocholt und dem Stuttgarter Sieg unerwartet zwei Spieltage vor Schluss ans Tabellenende gerutscht. Freitag geht es für das Team auf eigener Anlage am Baldeneysee im Westschlager gegen den TC ZWS Moers um alles. Bei einer Niederlage droht der Abstieg, ein Sieg wäre fast die Rettung.
Denn die mitgefährdeten Klubs spielen noch gegeneinander: Neuling Ludwigshafen Freitag in Stuttgart und Sonntag gegen Berlin. Sonntag muss Stuttgart am finalen Bundesligaspieltag in Moers antreten.
